MANILA, Philippines — Kanebo’s spring/summer 2018 collection is all about refined skin, flattering colors and fun textures, like a facial wash that comes in powder form.

Yes, powder facial washes are big in Japan. Kanebo’s version comes in a jar of 32 mini-pods, each containing the perfect dose to give you a foamy, oil-banishing cleanse. Available in white and exfoliating pink, both break down sebum and unclog pores, making them suitable for oily skin.

Kanebo’s new Smoothing Serum “balances the oil and water in the skin and exfoliates, so skincare applied after penetrates easily,” says Kanebo makeup artist Floe Tapayan. Plus, it’s gentle enough to be used daily.

Kanebo’s Refining Eye Serum has anti-inflammatory ingredients to prevent lines and wrinkles. Tapayan recommends you gently swipe it on under the eyes with your ring finger in the morning as a makeup base.

Brand manager Robby Da Silva says that primer is Kanebo’s top seller in the Philippines, so the addition of a fourth Refining Primer is good news. Made of two elastic gels that blur pores and lines, it works in concert with the new Luster Powder foundation, a very fine pressed powder with special blue powder mixed in to bring out the natural radiance and clarity of the skin.

For even more luminosity you can combine Luster Powder with Luster Color foundation, pink and green powders that correct redness and add vibrancy to the skin.

Yummy inspiration

Kanebo’s Mono eyeshadows have a unique texture: “The inspiration is a marshmallow because it’s so soft and easy to apply,” Da Silva says. With five shimmery colors in single jars — pink, brown, beige, blue and navy — just dip a finger in the cream-to-powder formula, smudge it upwards on your upper lash line and add eyeliner for a quick and easy look, says Tapayan.

Two new Lasting Glow eyeliners in brown and black are smudge-proof, waterproof, friction-proof, sweat-proof and long-lasting, according to Tapayan. The brush tip is “so fine that you can do super-extended, kitty-cat eyes.”

The Mono blush is the same mallow texture as the eyeshadow and just as easy to apply. Two colors, peach pink and garnet red, give you a healthy flush like you just worked out.

Lastly, Kanebo added four colors to its Moisture Rouge lipstick range: Classical Red, Burn Red, Sweet Pink and Elegant Rose. Using 5R color technology that photographers use, this veils lips in moisture that flatters all skin tones.
