Nude and improved: An on-trend look created with Nars’ spring/summer 2018 collection

Nars spring/summer 2018 is all about going nude.

“Our tagline is ‘Spring it on: Out with the old, in with the nude,’” says Ann Co, Nars’ education manager in the Philippines. “It’s really the trend right now. People are looking for nude colors that are very wearable.”

In fact, the whole collection is extremely wearable — and limited-edition — so get thee to a Nars counter posthaste if you want any of these babies.

The most wanted will likely be the Narsissist Wanted eyeshadow palette, which contains 12 shadows in four different textures: matte, satin, glitter and shimmer, so you can carry it with you and achieve the perfect daytime-to-nighttime looks anywhere. “And it’s only P3,000 so it’s great value for money,” Co notes.

But the start of any great face is the base. Nars has a winner in its Natural Radiant Longwear foundation (NRLF), which is the first 16-hour-wear liquid foundation on the market. “It won’t budge,” Co says. “It’s transfer-, sweat- and oxidation-resistant.”

Unlike most longwearing foundations, NRLF is not matte, so it won’t dry and look cakey or masklike on your face. My makeup artist Michelle applied it with her fingers, as Francois Nars himself says body heat helps it melt seamlessly into the face. NRLF will cover every imperfection but do it naturally, with a very radiant finish.

“Nars is all about radiant, natural-looking skin,” affirms Co. “We carry 23 shades in the Philippines so you can find your perfect match.”

NRLF’s perfect partner is the award-winning Radiant Creamy Concealer, to which Nars has added three shades. “It’s buildable and likewise has a radiant finish,” Co says.

After the phenomenal success of Orgasm liquid blush, which is all sold out at Rustan’s, Nars has released a second liquid blush, the shimmering brick-red Hot Tin Roof, which is so potent a little goes a long way. If you want a subtler look try the pinker highlighting-blush version, called Free Soul.

Frequent travelers or those who want even more portable eyeshadows will like the Velvet Shadow Sticks in two limited-edition, swipe-and-go colors: pewter Galice and shimmering light peacock-blue Frioul. Both are metallic, another big trend of the season.

And finally, to finish your on-trend, nude Nars look, SS18 features four liquid Lip Covers: shimmering peach-pink Embrasse Moi, peach-beige Under Arrest, pink-mauve Summer Fire (which is so flattering on my medium-toned complexion), and black-cherry Hell Gate (which is my choice for when I’m feeling fierce and flamenco).

What can I say? My Nars makeover left me feeling nude and improved.
