MANILA, Philippines — BINI members are "overwhelmed" after receiving their latest recognition from the Philippine Senate for their historic performance at Coachella last month.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, leader Jhoanna said that it was first time for her to see the senators having light moments during the plenary session late afternoon on Wednesday, May 6.

"Sobrang overwhelming po ng ano sa loob, kasi parang 'yun nga’ng sinabi ni Senator Loren Legarda kanina na sanay kaming makita na sobrang serious nila, and kanina nagbi-biruan sila," Jhoanna said.

"And also sobrang grateful kami kasi di namin in-expect na mangyayari 'to, na makakatungtong kami sa ibang stage, sa Senate naman. So thank you po sa pagkilala. Parang na-validate din lahat ng hardwork, malaking bagay ito sa amin," she added.

Colet said that it never occuered to them that they will be recognized in Senate.

"Laging joke namin, kaninong panaginip 'to? Kasi hindi namin akalain na mare-recognize 'yung hardwork namin," she said.

"It’s a good feeling po and we’re just so happy to be here!" Aiah added.

Mikha received a special mention from Risa Hontiveros, who highlighted her during a Women's Month they both attended.

"I'm so grateful and we’re so grateful to be recognized," Mikha said. "The fact na na-mention po nila 'yung privacy and they offered a prayer for us, it was a touching moment."

Award for all

Maloi said that the recognition needs to be shared to different OPM artists.

"Sobrang swerte namin kasi meron kaming means ma-put into reality 'yung mga creative juices namin," said Maloi. "Pero I believe na hindi lang siya dapat na-aapply sa amin.

"I believe na dapat ma-share ito to all of the artists, hindi lang mga OPM artists kung 'di pati lahat ng mga creatives out there na walang means, walang outlet, walang platform for it," she added.

"Naniniwala po kaming lahat na malaki ang potential ng mga Pilipino artists, ang dami pang kayang ipakita, ibigay out there globally," added Gwen.

"Now is the time na tayong mga Pinoy talents, mga Pinoy creatives, Pinoy culture ay makilala din internationally. Kasi kung kaya ng ibang lahi, kayang-kaya rin nating makipagsabayan kaya now is the time, mag-go tayo sa global stage," Stacey said.

BINI joins SB19 as Philippine representatives to the Summer Sonic Festival 2026 in Japan this August.

"Mayroon kaming goal, mayroon kaming stand. Gusto namin, everywhere we go, we bring the whole OPM scene with us," Sheena said.
