Ahead of the coronation night of the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2025 on May 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær Theilvig and the organization’s Continental Queens came to visit the Philippines and raved about the experience they had here.

At the presscon held Sunday at the Okada Manila, Victoria; Miss Universe Europe and Middle East Matilda Wirtavuori; Miss Universe Americas Tatiana Calmell; Miss Universe Africa and Oceania Chidimma Adetshina shared their impression of the country and its people and the good stuff they heard about the Philippines from Miss Universe Asia Chelsea Manalo.

Victoria, who has been in Manila twice, said that the first thing she noticed was the people. “Your community is such a warm and beloved community and you open your arms for me. It feels like home, almost. Everyone is so humble, so respectful, and so sweet.”

She expressed gratitude to the Filipino community that has “a special place in my heart.”

“Everyone is humble and welcoming with us,” added Tatiana. “And also the food, it’s amazing. Yesterday, we tried some really nice dishes, (including) adobo (which was) her (Chelsea) recommendations. It was tasty and so good. And also, just the smiles, everyone here is so nice and so kind.”

On the other hand, it was Chidimma’s first time in the Philippines. She shared that Chelsea had briefed them, prior to coming here, “that feel of what the Philippines might be like.”

“And from the moment we arrived, just like Tati said, from the flowers to the (warm) welcome, we (are) definitely going to love the Philippines.” The Nigerian-South African beauty queen is excited to check out Palawan during their stay.

Matilda is also thrilled to be taking part in the Philippine tour and to experience the MUPH pageant. “Because actually last year, I was following the pageant as a fangirl, so now it’s surreal to be here. (And) to experience them at the coronation (night).”

Chelsea beamed, “We will let them experience the warmth and how pageant is like here in the Philippines because they will be coming with us on the coronation night. So for sure, it’s really (going to be) amazing that they will be there alongside me when I walk my final night. They will be there to see, you know how amazing are the crowds (and) the Filipino pageant fans are, how beautiful and kind we are.”

Meanwhile, the MUPH mounted their preliminary competition on Monday night at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

The 66 candidates dazzled in their evening gowns and strutted down the runway in purple swimwear. They also displayed their charm and wit during the interview portion.
