MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya stars Joshua Garcia and Vice Ganda have been named Celebrities of the Year at the TikTok Awards Philippines 2022 recently held at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

The "Darna" star and the "It's Showtime" host bested other nominees such as Ivana Alawi, Kim Chiu, Althea Ablan, Kyline Alcantara, Cassy Legaspi, Dasuri Choi and Yukii Takahashi.

In an interview with the media during his launch as the new endorser of Koomi, Joshua said TikTok helped him show his hidden talent.

“Makakatulong talaga sa akin. I’m thankful. It’s another platform for me to show my hidden talents,” Joshua said.

The actor shared that he has always liked dancing since his younger days.

“I started dancing nu’ng high school ako,” he said.

“Pero actually kinder pa lang ako, gusto ko nang magsayaw sa graduation. Ang istorya nu’n, 'di ako sinasali kasi makulit akong bata. So ang panakot, 'di ako isasali. Ang ginawa ko, umakyat ako ng bakod. S’yempre takot na takot ang maestra ko, (sabi niya) ‘Hoy, bumaba ka diyan,’” he recalled.

Joshua went viral on TikTok after he posted his dance cover of Chalie Boy’s “Thick Fine Woman.” The video had 20 million views and 4 million likes a day after it was uploaded.
