'Optimum Star' Claudine Barretto, 'Superstar' Nora Aunor file COCs
MANILA, Philippines — Actress Claudine Barretto filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for Olongapo councilor last Wednesday.
Claudine will be running under mayoralty candidate, talent manager Arnold Vegafria.
Apart from Claudine, their party Bangon Pilipinas includes 209 Mr. World Philippines JB Saliba, who is also running for councilor.
They will be running under PDP-Laban.
In a Facebook post of Bangon Olongapo, Claudine said that though she lacks experience in politics, she aims to truly help the people of Olongapo.
“Wala akong masyadong alam pagdating sa pulitika, pero sisiguraduhin ko naman sa inyo, mga kababayan ko, kaya kong magserbisyo nang tunay at may puso,” she said.
Claudine started her showbiz career in 1992 by starring in different blockbuster movies and high-rating teleseryes. She was dubbed as the "Optimum Star."
Meanwhile, "Superstar" Nora Aunor also filed her COC for party-list National Organization for Responsive Advocacies for the Arts (NORA A) representative.
In a press statement, Nora said it’s her time to join politics.
“Ako po si Nora Cabaltera Villamayor o mas kilala bilang Nora Aunor sa Phillipine Showbiz ay kumpirmado pong tatakbo po sa Halalan 2022 sa pamamagitan po ng party list na (NORA A) National Organization for Responsive Advocacies for the Arts,” she said.
“Sa mahigit 50 taon ko po sa entertainment industry ay marami pong umuudyok sa akin na pasukin po ang public service. Ito na po siguro ang tamang pagkakataon para po pagbigyan ang mga taong nagsusulong at naniniwala sa akin na ako po ay makakatulong lalo na po sa mga nangangailangan. Panahon na po para maibahagi ko rin ang mga adbokasiya at mga plataporma na aking binuo para po sa kapakanan ng nakakarami,” she added.
