Kim Chiu is one of the many who has turned to e-shopping as the world takes a dramatic shift from in-person to purchasing goods online due to impact of COVID-19.

The Kapamilya star recently got candid about her controversial Bawal Lumabas statement in relation to why she opted for online shopping during pandemic lockdowns.

“Ako kasi I’m a Shopee user talaga. Since bawal nga tayo lumabas, so yung Shopee, online shopping, delivery, maaasahan mo talaga yun,” said Kim during the Shopee online media event.

Her Bawal Lumabas gaffe stemmed from a Facebook live protest May of last year following the cease and desist order issued against her home network ABS-CBN. She used the classroom analogy to illustrate her point regarding the shutdown.

But she managed to turn that blooper around and released a song, a music video, a limited-edition merchandise and a series.

And now that the actress and host has been chosen as Shopee’s newest brand ambassador to kick off the 10.10. Brands Festival, she wittily quoted the line to point out the convenience of online shopping.

“You just type sa search kung ano yung gusto mong hanapin. Kunwari ako, mga pink na cooking ware. So, nandiyan na lahat yung mga hinahanap ko. Lahat na talaga ng kailangan mo now, kahit nandito ka lang sa bahay at hindi ka lalabas, nasa Shopee na talaga,” shared Kim.

She cited the fast delivery service of the e-commerce company. “Ito talaga proven and tested. Sobrang bilis ng delivery. Hindi mo na kailangang pumunta ng mall at i-risk ang sarili mo na humarap sa maraming tao dahil minimum of two days, nandiyan na sa’yo.”

And she further mentioned the company’s deals, rewards and games. “You can win coins from the games. Shake lang ng shake hanggang sa manalo ka. Never give up.”

Kim was also surprised when she learned that she was selected as one of Shopee’s endorsers. “Every month merong Shopee Shake sa It’s Showtime. So sobrang happy kami dun and sobrang grateful.?Then sinabi ng handler ko na ako daw yung 10.10 brand ambassador, talagang napa-Shake ako ng super. Yes, super kilig.”

She has been using the Shopee app even before she became the endorser.

During the said event, she also shared what type of shopper she is — a late-night shopper with the tendency to “add to cart” more often when she’s bored.

“Bago matulog…pampa-antok ko add to cart (laughs). Pag nag-check out ka, hindi ka makatulog,” revealed the 31-year-old actress.

She added, “Minsan pag-bored ako, andami kong binibili. Add to cart, add to cart, add to cart lang. Iniipon ko lang. Pag nag-Double Double Sales, i-che-check out ko na kasi 70-percent off, 50-percent off. So many amazing deals. Nakaka-enjoy.”

Her last purchase from Shopee was an acrylic ref organizer worth P20 to P50. She also buys essentials from the app like mask, alcohol and sanitary bags.

Her current “add to cart” items are Christmas products which she plans to check out by 10.10.

As a brand ambassador, Kim will be featured on the new Shopee TV commercial, Kim Chiu for Shopee Prizes and mini-games and contests.

“Shopee Philippines is happy to welcome one of the country’s top entertainers into the Shopee family, Kim Chiu. Kim’s bubbly, charming personality and love for online shopping both resonate with millions of Filipinos who find joy and excitement on Shopee. This 10.10 Brands Festival, we hope to bring the best brand deals and so much more with our valued and trusted brand partners,” said Martin Yu, director of Shopee Philippines.

South Korean girl group ITZY will perform on Shopee Live on 10.10. Brands Festival.
