Fresh, beautiful and all smiles.

Julia Barretto’s aura is undeniably positive as we got to chat with her solo via online for the promo of her upcoming TV5 drama, ‘Di Na Muli.

She was earlier than the said chat schedule and was even game to change her location for a better mood and coverage. With her calmness and boosted mood, if you are living under a rock, you would never guess that she is being thrown and accused of the harshest words a woman would receive day in and out, especially during the last few months.

Naturally, we had to ask the 24-year-old star about how she is dealing with the unpleasant noise around her. “Affected? Not anymore because it’s like my normal life already but I have learned the art of less talk less mistake, the art of sharing but not oversharing. Before I could go on with one question and five minutes, tuloy-tuloy, I’ll keep talking.

“Ano na ako now, I’ll only share what I’m willing to share just so hindi na ako ma-misinterpret or hindi na ma-twist words ko. But I feel no matter what I say they will try to make it a headline.”

Julia reiterated that she is the type not to hold back information from her fans but now that she is uncertain about who is real and not, the actress just likes to be more stern about the boundaries she sets on what information people could access from her.

As you can see, ever since Julia and Gerald Anderson confirmed their status last March, the two of them have been inseparable both in public sightings and even online with posts of admiration for each other.

Just last week, Julia showed how much of a good influence in her life her boyfriend is as she signed on to be a reservist for the Philippine Coast Guard.

Julia now has the title of Auxiliary Ensign under the PCGA K9 Squadron. She said, “I was supposed to meet them (PCG) this week so we could lay out the projects. One thing I really wanna do with them is the coastal clean-up and the fishermen, to help them and their families, especially the children. Dati masaya lang ako kasi sumasama lang ako but now I’m excited because I get to brainstorm and give ideas on what else we could do.”

The meeting with the PCG could not push through as of the moment because of the uncertain pandemic quarantine status plus Julia became busy with her primetime TV comeback for ‘Di Na Muli. This is her first project under the new normal in showbiz and she said that the lock in set-up hasn’t been easy for her, explaining, “I’m torn because I miss my family so much and I just can’t go home and see them.”

Besides the story of ‘Di Na Muli which attracted Julia to the project, she will star alongside her kabarkada for more than a decade, Marco Gumabao, who has been her confidante and constant since their early days in the business as they had the same handler in Star Magic before. She said, “We go way back. The biggest factor in our friendship is that we’re good listeners and we don’t judge each other. No judging!”

Speaking of no judging, both Marco and Julia stressed that in their barkada, things have always been peaceful and that whatever issues they face in showbiz, they are always not the ones who will start the fight.

Julia said, “At kami yung inaaway! Hindi kami nang-aaway hahaha.” Then I asked if they would fight back. Julia answered, “Depends.”

Marco went on by saying, “Pick your battles madami kasi battles na walang ka kwenta kwenta.” Julia finished the topic, “Ang babae!”

Going back to their project, ‘Di Na Muli has been compared by netizens to the K-drama About Time since Lee Sung Kyung’s character on the show like Julia’s Yana has an ability to see a person’s life span. Marco and Julia promised that there is more to that when their fans watch the show starting Sept. 18 at 8 p.m.

Julia has been very privy to the K-drama world to back up her stand on the show and speaking of K-drama, we ended our chat with her by asking her favorites so far.

“Hindi mawawala diyan ang A World of The Married Couple. Nasa No. 1 ko pa rin talaga siya. Iyong pagkakasulat din talaga doon… world-class siya! Tsaka iyong Nevertheless! Oh my God grabe kilig ko! And yung girl doon ugh sobrang pabebe mo! Go na! Please give in na kasi ang cute ng guy!”
