Shaina turns 30 with a fresh start
ABS-CBN’s The Haunted star Shaina Magdayao (with co-stars Denise Laurel and Jake Cuenca): There’s so much to look forward to because there are lots of doors opening for me and I wanna be grateful for that. I’m actually looking forward to 2020.

MANILA, Philippines — Fresh from her two-week sojourn in Vienna, where she celebrated her 30th birthday and attended the screening of the Lav Diaz film Ang Hupa at the

2019 Vienna International Film Festival last month, Shaina Magdayao is back to the grind for Dreamscape’s The Haunted, her latest TV series that airs Sunday nights after Your Moment on ABS-CBN.

“One week of work and another week of rest,” shared Shaina, who first visited the city in 2012. “It’s a city that’s very sentimental to me because it was my first time to travel alone and seven years after, fate has brought me back there. I also went to Budapest which was part of my bucket list.”

The Kapamilya actress, whose actual birthday is on Nov. 6, said turning older is like opening a new chapter of her life.

“I feel like I’m starting again,” related Shaina, who had her fair share of ups and downs, and burnout feelings normally experienced by artists who started early in the business. “I just turned 30 so parang bago lahat kasi before ako nag-30, I’ve been asking myself, ‘Ano ba, ano pa bang gagawin ko? I’m turning 30 already and I feel tired.’ I mean, I’ve been doing the same thing…parang talaga bang para sa akin pa rin ‘tong showbiz?”

“But after a few months, I chose to look at it again in a different light and have a different perspective in my job and my life. It’s like a new chapter, a new decade and everything’s new. And ever since I’ve changed my perspective na parang ‘Ah, pagod na ako,’ that was when projects came pouring in so I don’t wanna be tired. I wanna stop saying that I’m tired because there’s so much to look forward to (and) so I’m not rushing into anything because there are lots of doors opening (for me) and I wanna be grateful for that. I’m actually looking forward to 2020.”

After starring in Nang Ngumiti ang Langit which concluded in October, Shaina is busy with more work, aside from The Haunted, her reunion project with Jake Cuenca and Denise Laurel.

Asked about her Christmas plans and if she’s going to spend it alone since she is not dating anyone, Shaina replied, “The people who surround me are the same people that I spend with every Christmas. Actually, nadadagdagan pa even my friends. So, I’m going to have a very happy Christmas, workwise, personal-life wise, everything-wise…masaya ako. Although I have to admit that I used to feel it when I was younger (and) when everything was still fresh. I don’t want to pretend or say that I never felt sad about it. Oo naman nalungkot ako. You all know what happened and what’s happening in my life, right?

You’ve all witnessed it so I won’t deny na nagkaroon na ako ng mga malalamig na Pasko.”
