Curves that refresh
For someone who likes to be described as “sweet” (even if she has gone sexy with Derrick Monasterio in Regal Films’ Wild and Free), Sanya Lopez is gifted with the curves that refresh as proven by the three pictures on this page taken from the 2020 Ginebra San Miguel Calendar. The unveiling of the GSM Calendar Girl (inspired by the hit US TV series Charlie’s Angels in the ’80s) is a much-awaited event since 1988 when model/TV host Monina Tan posed for the calendar ala Marilyn Monroe.
Sanya joins the honor roll that includes beauty queens (1994 Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Anjanette Abayari, 1995 Bb. Pilipinas-International Alma Concepcion and 1993 Miss Asia Pacific Michelle Aldana), several actresses and 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach (2018).
“As a little girl,” revealed Sanya, “I used to wonder what it was like to be a Ginebra Calendar Girl. We had one hung on the wall in our sala, featuring Ate Marian (Rivera) on it. She’s my inspiration.”
Coming right after Pia, even before the shoot, Sanya said that she was already into intermittent fasting. To prepare for the shoot, she went on a fish-and-chicken/no carbs diet, and worked out every day (jogging, jumping rope, running, Muay Thai, boxing and five-minute planking).
Sanya admitted that she felt “some pressure” since she comes after Pia but GSM execs Emmanuel Macalalag (general manager), Allan Mercado (national sales and marketing manager) and Ronald Molina (marketing manager) welcomed her in a grand toast during the launch featuring a cocktail called “Sanya’s Island Mix,” a concoction of pineapple, buko juice and gin. She’s showcased as an “Island Girl.”
Since at 23, she claimed to be an NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth), did Sanya ask the permission to pose sexy from her strict Kuya Jak Roberto (Barbie Forteza’s boyfriend)?
“Actually, sinasabi niya lang sa akin na malaki na ako and I know na raw what the limits are. He just reminds me to be careful and he’s always there behind me, as I am also here for him.”
Since she was discovered in 2012 by the late Master Showman German “Kuya Germs” Moreno, Sanya has appeared in the TV remake of Encantadia and the recently-concluded Dahil Sa Pagibig. Her next project is Joel Lamangan’s Isa Pang Bahaghari with Nora Aunor.
A Leo (Aug. 6, 1996), Sanya stands 5’6’; weighs 110 lbs.; measures 34-24-34; and wears small-size shirt and size-7.5 shoes.
How much of an “island girl” are you?
“I grew up in the province (Laguna). I love going to the beach. Sa akin kapag sinabing Island Girl nakikita ko agad ‘yung babaeng independent at malakas ang loob na kayang harapin ang lahat ng pagsubok.”
Snacks in-between?
“Dark chocolates.”
How much water do you take per day?
“I drink six liters a day pag may show or taping and two liters on a normal day.”
Food that you usually crave for?
“Japanese food, ramen and siomai.”
What vitamins are you taking?
“Vitamin C and Iron.”
Any part of your body that needs improvement?
“More than trying to have the ‘perfect’ body type, mas focus ako sa pagiging fit and healthy talaga.”
Favorite part of your body?
“Eyes.”
Any other beauty secrets?
“I drink lots of water and eat healthy food. And I think importante din na happy ka sa sarili mo kasi it will show.”
How much sleep do you get per night?
“Pag walang taping, eight to 10 hours. Minsan pag may work, one to two hours.”
Favorite sleepwear?
“Pajamas.”
How many pillows do you sleep with?
“Five.”
Last thing that you do before you go to sleep?
“Pray.”
And the first thing that you do as soon as you wake up?
“Check my phone and turn off the alarm.”
How do you relax?
“I listen to love songs.”
Favorite hideaway, city?
“Tagaytay.”
