Paulo Avelino explains his viral tweet on Bea Alonzo
MANILA, Philippines — Amid a mounting controversy, Kapamilya actor Paulo Avelino offered an explanation for his viral tweet about Bea Alonzo.
Last week, Paulo wrote on Twitter: “Na Bea Alonzo ka na ba bes?”
The tweet, which drew mixed reactions from social media users including celebrities like Angel Locsin, bore the hashtag #ghosting.

In millennial lingo, ghosting is “the practice of ending a personal relationship with someone by suddenly and without explanation withdrawing from all communication.”
Paulo’s cryptic tweet about Bea came after the actress revealed that she and her boyfriend, Gerald Anderson, did not have a formal breakup.
“To my understanding we did not break up. He just started not talking to me,” Bea said.
Paulo, who was paired with Bea in the 2014 primetime drama “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon” and 2018 romance film "Kasal," said the tweet was meant to make things "lighter."
“It doesn’t really matter if it trends or not. It’s just to make everything lighter," he said in an interview with ABS-CBN's entertainment reporter MJ Felipe on Thursday.
He also said that he has spoken with Bea during the “Forever Kapamilya” trade event on July 23.
“Mukhang okay naman. She’s getting better,” the Kapamilya actor said.
Speculations of infidelity and a falling-out between the couple of three years started last week when Bea posted a cryptic message in her Instagram account with black photo.
The caption read: “You can’t make the same mistake twice, the second time you make it, it’s not a mistake anymore, it’s a choice.’ ENOUGH.”
Bea also liked an Instagram post of a fan showing Gerald hanging out with his “Between Maybes” co-star Julia Barreto at the birthday party of actor Rayver Cruz.
