MANILA, Philippines — Sixteen-year-old Zephanie Dimaranan was hailed as the first winner of Kapamilya singing reality show "Idol Philippines” last Sunday.

The Laguna native won over Lucas Garcia and Lance Busa for the title as she received 100 percent of combined viewers' and judges' votes, while Lucas came in second with 70.2 percent of combined votes, and Lance placed third with 41.89 percent of the combined votes.

"Yes, I think she is really deserving and we're really happy how it turned out," one of the judges, James Reid, said in an interview with Philstar.com during the launch of “Iwas BUWIS-it” book, where he and Boy Abunda were the ambassadors.

"I plan to help some of the top five by producing," added the singer-actor, who has his own recording studio, Careless Music Manila.

In the final rounds, Zephanie showed her singing prowess by performing Ted Ito’s Original Pinoy Music (OPM) classic, “Maghintay Ka Lamang," and a song composed for her by songwriter Jonathan Manalo called "Pangarap Kong Pangarap Mo."

Prior to winning "Idol Philippines," the teen singing sensation also joined the “The Voice Kids” in 2015 and "It's Showtime's" "Tawag ng Tanghalan."

She was one of Sarah Geronimo’s proteges in the "The Voice Kids" season where Elha Nympha won. She joined "Tawag ng Tanghalan" in which Jenine Berdin later on emerged as winner.

During the audition rounds, Zephanie sang Sarah’s hit "Forever’s Not Enough.” She impressed all the judges that include Vice Ganda, Moira dela Torre, James and Regine Velasquez, with all of the judges voting "yes" for her.

She was a consistent top vote getter throughout the competition. In the Day 1 of the Grand Finals, she performed "Lipad ng Pangarap."
