When summer comes, can the MTV Movie & TV Awards be far behind?  No way.  In only a few weeks, we will be able to watch what has become the coolest awards show ever. I mean that. Can you name another awards organization that considers only the best and does not look into gender or genre or I must add, the source? None. This is why fans absolutely believe in the results. They voted for their favorites, which means that they choose the winners themselves.

Now, while the others are still doing battle regarding differences among films or TV shows or online content, etc., MTV just went ahead and lumped them all together in the M&TVAs. The awards are for work done, after all.  They are all moving pictures whether you watched them on TV, cable or free, the theater with the big screen or streamed them on Netflix.

This is the reason why Lady Gaga of A Star is Born and Rami Malek of Bohemian Rhapsody are contending for Best Performance. The same thing goes for Gayle King of CBS This Morning against RuPaul of RuPaul’s Drag Race for Best Host. This is also why two Starks, Tony a.k.a. Robert Downey Jr., of the movie Avengers: Endgame, and Arya, a.k.a. Maisie Williams of the cable TV show, Game of Thrones, are both nominees for Best Hero. And because this is the age of the online meme, the M&TVA now includes the Most Meme-able Moment.

Awkwafina of Crazy Rich Asians

Just in case you are among those who  have not noticed, M&TVA nominations do not consider gender but only performances by male, female, etc., etc. And in keeping with that rule, the famous Moonman trophy has now become the gender-less Moonperson trophy.

So set the date. The 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards night will be held on  June 17 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The show will be emceed by Zachary Levi, Mr. Shazam! Himself, and will feature performances by Martin Garrix, Macklemore, Patrick Stump and the sensational Lizzo.
