Ogie Alcasid defends Regine Velasquez over ‘clams’ issue
MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya singer Ogie Alcasid defended his wife Regine Velasquez from news anchor Ben Tulfo after the “Bitag” host lambasted the “Asia’s Songbird.”
In a Facebook live session, Ben criticized Regine on her remarks on Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin’s statement on the harvesting of clams by Chinese vessels on Scarborough Shoal.
"Ang mensahe ko sa ‘yo, Regine Velasquez, next time you open your mouth, think. Make sure na may laman ang utak mo," Ben said.
In his Twitter account, Ogie came to his wife’s defense.
“Sir @bitagbentulfo . I offer my cheek to you. After you have maligned my wife I ask that you focus on me. She is after all a lady. God bless you sir,” Ogie wrote.

Ben then replied to Ogie’s tweet: “I am not here to hurt anyone. I am talking with sincerity and truthfulness. this is a serious issue. Tell your wife to focus in her career. Please, not Foreign relations and issues. I do respect you and your wife.”
Ogie, thank you so much for your reply. I do respect the God-given abilities and talents of your wife. The only thing that I don't find it right is that your wife questioning the ability of experts/people trusted by the government.

Last weekend, Regine criticized the DFA secretary after he said that no one will go to war for just clams.
"Ang akala ko pa naman matalino ka. Ako ay simpleng tao lamang na may simpleng pagiisip. These people are invading our territory they are not just taking food (sinisira) nila ang ating karagatan!!!!" Regine said.
