MANILA, Philippines — Actor Tom Rodriguez, star of Fox Movies’ first ever Filipino film “Maledicto,” shared on his Instagram a video of a boy he met while filming the horror flick.

During the movie’s grand press conference on Tuesday, Tom and the movie’s director, Mark Meily, recalled meeting a boy who sneaked into their set while they were shooting a critical exorcism scene. The boy was reportedly giving suggestions on how to do exorcism.

The boy, who introduced himself as Luiz, was allegedly a nun’s ward in the church where the film shot some of its scenes. Luiz even told Tom he was a fan of Tom’s now defunct GMA thriller series, “The Cure.”

But after the shooting day, Meily said the boy just disappeared and when they asked around, nobody seemed to know or has even seen the boy. The boy also never showed up on their set again.

Meily and Rodriguez found their encounter with the “mysterious” boy creepy.

In the comments section of Tom’s post, however, a netizen thanked Tom, Meily and the cast for accommodating Luiz.

The netizen said: “hi sir tom @akosimangtomas thanks for everything naikwento nya din po sakin lahat ng convo at ginagawa nyo since nung first time na ngka meet po kayo, ang bait bait nyo po pati nila direk kasi hinayaan lang po nila yung bata na makakwentuhan ka,nabanggit din nya na pinakain nyo pa nga daw po sya sa tent???? thank you po,, thank you din po kela direk mark and direk doreen. god bless po.”

Based on the comment, the netizen appeared to be Luiz’s mom or relative. The netizen also has pictures of the boy on her Instagram page.

A horror film that delves into demonic possessions and a believer’s test of faith, “Maledicto” stars Rodriguez as Father Xavi, a former psychologist who becomes a skeptical exorcist following the tragic death of his sister, Mara (played by Inah de Belen).

He meets Sister Barbie (played by Jasmine Curtis-Smith), a young nun who has the gift of charism. Together, they face the case of Agnes (Miles Ocampo), a seemingly perfect teenager who starts manifesting demonic behavior that rocks the foundations of the church.

"’Maledicto’ is a really big feat for Fox News Group, being the first ever film we’ve produced locally, with an all-Filipino cast at that. With ‘Maledicto’ under our belt, we’re hoping to elevate Filipino cinema to one of a Hollywood pedigree,” said Jude Turcuato, Senior Vice President and General Manager of FOX Networks Group Philippines.

“Maledicto” opens in cinemas nationwide this coming May 1.
