Darren Espanto chosen as only Filipino guest artist in ‘Singer 2019’

MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya singer Darren Espanto is set to appear in the hit Chinese show “Singer 2019.”

The “The Voice Kids Edition” runner-up will perform as a guest in the finals of the Chinese singing competition on April 12.

“Expect an exceptional performance from D Total Performer as one of the guests at the Singer 2019 finals this April 12!” Star Magic wrote on its Instagram page.

In another post, Star Magic shared a video of the competition naming the show’s guests, who are mostly Chinese singing sensations. 

“Filipinos represent! Catch Darren Espanto’s guest performance at the Singer 2019 Finals this April 12!” the Instagram page wrote. 

Reports said that Darren told media that the “Singer” team contacted him through his record label. He later flew to China for the show, then the Chinese singing competition asked him to guest during the finals. 

Last year’s edition of the competition featured Kapamilya singer KZ Tandingan as a contestant. Although she was eliminated in the talent show’s 9th episode, KZ made a mark in the competition for her duet with British pop star Jessie J and her own renditions of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” and Lorde’s “Royals.”
