Prince Harry, Meghan Markle make world record
MANILA, Philippines — Guiness World Records has recently announced that the new Instagram account of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has broken the record for the “fastest time to gain one million followers on Instagram.”
The Instagram account named @sessexroyal was created last April 2 and reached one million followers in just five hours and 45 minutes. As of this writing, the account has already 3.2 million followers.
The account now has two posts, which include the announcement of the official account and Prince Harry meeting with families, children and young adults at YMCA in South Ealing as a continuation of his charity work for mental health awareness.
The royal couple beats the record of Korean pop star Kang Daniel, who achieved one million Instagram followers in 11 hours and 36 minutes. Before the K-pop star, the record was held by Pope Francis, who reached one million in 12 hours after debuting his verified Vatican Media channel “franciscus” back in 2016.
Followers of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been waiting for the royal couple’s post of their first baby, now that the Meghan is just one month away from her due date.
Kylie Jenner has earned the title of the most liked photo on Instagram with her baby announcement, until the photo of an egg surpassed her with 53 million likes.
