No slowing down for Max Collins
GMA Network’s newest Afternoon Prime series Bihag marks a significant moment for Max as she portrays the role of a mother onscreen for the first time.

“Never give up” is a mantra everyone has heard before, but no one lives by it like Kapuso leading lady Max Collins.

A portrait of elegance, the lovely actress has stunned us all with her ethereal glow and mesmerizing style. She’s undeniably a gem in the biz.

Unknown to the public, she never considered entering show business before until she was unexpectedly thrown into the spotlight when she was 14 years old.

“I was just modeling. I do print modeling, commercial modeling and then I was even in construction for a while. I did a lot of different things but I guess once you fall in love with acting, you just keep coming back to it.”

Nonetheless, achieving her dreams was also quite a journey for the GMA Artist Center beauty. It took Max a lot of monumental leaps and a strong headstart to keep going, “A lot of people work hard yet they are not recognized so I think I’m just lucky and blessed that I am where am today and it’s all because of God.”

Today, Max has been continuously showcasing her acting prowess in various scenes. She received the Special Jury Prize for an actress for the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Rainbow’s Sunset.

April is a huge month for Max.

GMA Network’s newest Afternoon Prime series Bihag marks a significant moment for her as she portrays the role of a mother onscreen for the first time.

Max identifies with her character Jessie because of her unconditional love for her family. Still, they also have a lot of opposing traits.

Last 2017, Max welcomed a new chapter in her life as she married the man of her dreams, fellow Kapuso Pancho Magno.

She shares, “Jessie and I do things very differently. The way she attacks a lot of situations are totally opposite from how I would deal with them. In the start, she doesn’t really know how to express herself or get her point across.”

Being a wife and a mother is no easy task. Max has done numerous preparations for what she calls one of her most challenging roles to date.

“I don’t have a child. I have a husband but I haven’t been married that long. I kind of had to put myself in that position so I watched a lot of movies on mothers and their children getting abducted or taken. I also watched a lot of videos on ‘yung mga YouTube mommies that do videos with their kids,” she shared.

Last 2017, Max welcomed a new chapter in her life as she married the man of her dreams, fellow Kapuso actor Pancho Magno.

Happily in love with her husband of one year, she admits they have no plans yet of having a baby soon. “We are not exactly planning because we’re also busy working right now but I do want to have one eventually. We just don’t have an exact date.”

The series, which is packed with action, mystery and suspense, features the stellar performances of the network’s prime stars will surely hook the audience. It promises a thought-provoking tale of how one mistake can lead to another.

“I want people to see what the love of a mother for her child is like, what she can do and how she can sacrifice herself just to save her child,” Max said.

Paralleled with an endearing and evolving character, Max is also adamant in her every undertaking. She genuinely seems to have found a burning passion to take her craft to greater heights.

“It’s just not fair for children to be abused, and a lot of people don’t know what happens to their kids afterwards because they have no clue what to do and who to contact during these situations. I think there needs to be more awareness brought to abused kids and children who are trafficked. There are so many, especially in the country, but sometimes it’s not enough to just be part of an advocacy. As an actress or a celebrity, we have to use our voice to help them and to make the cause really known.”

Kapuso viewers should also look forward to her upcoming live animation show titled Alex and Amie with Mikael Daez produced by GMA Public Affairs.

In the forthcoming years, Max looks forward to being part of the creative process of movies, and maybe one day, even produce. Most of all, she hopes to do more projects that would impact the public.

She relates, “I really think about my characters now because I’m getting older and because I don’t want to do projects that I won’t be proud of in the long run. I can say I’ve matured with the way I choose my roles. That’s not just necessarily because may asawa na ako, it’s more of because I’ve matured as a person. I’ve just learned that it’s useless to do projects that don’t fulfill me.”
