Kaye Abad offers explanation on ex John Lloyd Cruz’s showbiz hiatus

MANILA, Philippines — Returning Kapamilya actress Kaye Abad said she and former on- and off-screen partner John Lloyd Cruz have not yet seen each other in Cebu.

Speaking before the media during the press conference of “Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit,” Kaye was asked if she already saw John Lloyd in Cebu.

The former “Tabing Ilog” love team is now Cebu-based since Kaye got married with Paul Jake Castillo while John Lloyd is now with Ellen Adarna.

“Palagi naman akong nasa labas pero hindi ko pa rin siya nakikita. Ang daming nagtatanong niyan pero hindi pa kami nagkikita rin,” Kaye said.

“Baka ayaw na ng tadhana na magkita kami kasi maayos na ang mga buhay namin,” she added.

Kaye admitted that her husband Paul Jake and John Lloyd’s partner, Ellen, are good friends.

“Hindi na kami in touch ni Lloydie. Si Ellen and si Paul Jake, friends sila pero hindi naman barkada talaga na like they hang out. Kasi may anak na rin siya, kumbaga lahat kami ay may pamilya na," she said.

According to Kaye, she has known John Lloyd as someone who wished to not to rely on showbiz forever for livelihood.

“Kasi before pa alam ko na siya 'yung tipong kapag okay na siya, ay okay na siya. Alam niyang hindi ito ang gagawin niyang pangkabuhayan. Kumbaga nakaipon na siya, gagawa siya ng business. Hindi 'yung pag-aartista ang gagawin niyang source of income," she added.

Directed by FM Reyes and Marinette Natividad-de Guzman, "Nang Ngumiti ang Langit" is led by premiere actors RK Bagatsing, Cristine Reyes, Kaye Abad, Enzo Pineda, Pilar Pilapil, Ces Quesada, Matet de Leon, and Keempee de Leon. Also joining the daytime series are child stars Heart Ramos, Miguel Vergara and Krystal Mejes.
