LIST: 15 Filipinas who could become the next Miss Universe
MANILA, Philippines — After Catriona Gray, pageant-crazed Filipinos now ask: “Who could be our next Miss Universe?”
After consulting some pageant analysts and fans, Philstar.com has come up with the following list of Filipinas who might have what it takes to give the country its fifth Miss Universe crown.
Maymay Entrata
After slaying the catwalk in a recent fashion show at the “Raise Your Flag for Catriona Gray” concert, people in social media, including some former beauty queens, are clamoring for the Kapamilya singer-actress to join the upcoming Binibining Pilipinas.
The 21-year-old Camiguin native and “Pinoy Big Brother” winner has been consistently transforming as one of the country’s up-and-coming elite models – from the time her modeling pictures have been liked by supermodel Tyra Banks, up until last year, when she became the first Filipina to walk at the prestigious Arab Fashion Week.

Liza Soberano
Netizens have been clamoring for the Kapamilya actress to join the Binibining Pilipinas. For them, Liza’s qualities are perfect for becoming a beauty queen.
Even her father said before that he wanted his daughter to become a beauty queen. Liza also had the approval of the Philippines’ first ever Miss Universe titlist, Gloria Diaz, who said she can be a future Binibining Pilipinas queen.
In 2017, she portrayed Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach in “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”
Ahtisa Manalo
Ahtisa almost gave the Philippines its seventh Miss International crown after she finished first runner-up in the competition recently held in Tokyo, Japan. The beauty queen from Candelaria, Quezon wowed the crowd as she talked about youth empowerment in her speech during the pageant.
Since Ahtisa is the youngest in her batch of Binibining Pilipinas queens at 20 years old, she still has plenty of time to make it to Miss Universe.

Like her idol Pia Wurtzbach, Jehza got a Binibining Pilipinas title on her third try. Will she get the Universe title on a fourth try?

Now a host in the country’s longest running noontime show, “Eat Bulaga,” Maureen told Philstar.com last 2017 that she is not closing her doors to join a beauty pageant. Is this year finally the right moment?
“Yeah, she should definitely join if she wants to,” Wurtzbach told Philstar.com in an interview in 2017 when asked if Maureen has what it takes to become a beauty queen.
Angelica Alita
According to pageant insiders, Catriona Gray’s team is now training Binibining Pilipinas 2016 first runner-up Angelica Alita to join this year’s Bb. Pilipinas pageant. In an interview with Philstar.com, however, one of Gray’s team members denied such rumor.
Nonetheless, pageant fans are excited for this beauty queen from Oriental Mindoro if she decides to join again in this year’s Binibining Pilipinas. Furthermore, a new inspiration in the person of Cavite vice governor Jolo Revilla will be an additional motivation for her.
Sandra Lemonon
A strong contender for a crown at the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 pageant, Sandra made it to the top 15 but failed to get a crown after the question and answer round where she honestly admitted that she does not know about the government’s “Build Build Build” program.
Although she did not get a crown, people love her with her honesty. The beauty queen from Pasig, however, vowed to comeback to try again.
Winwyn Marquez
Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez has told her Instagram followers that she is not sure if she will join this year’s Binibining Pilipinas. She said she is happy with her crown as Reina Hispanoamericana and many projects are coming her way.
Nonetheless, the Kapuso actress, who is turning 27 this year, is not closing her doors next year because the age limit for Miss Universe is 28 years old.
In an ABS-CBN article on Sunday, it was reported that Wurtzbach commented on Winwyn’s Instagram post: “Miss Universe material.”
