MANILA, Philippines — Vietnam’s Miss Universe 2018 bet, H’Hen Nie, did not miss the chance to wear the Philippines’ national costume baro’t saya while she was here in the country.

On Saturday, Nie posted photos of her donning a cream and black-colored traditional Filipino-Hispanic dress in a hotel in Naga City. She flaunted the traditional dress accentuated by her local accessories including her bead-embellished fan and gloves as well as her fancy umbrella.

“OMG I love this dress,” Nie said.

“This is the traditional costume of the North of [the Philippines], the Filipino Hispanic dress, and it’s gorgeous right? How do I look with it?” she asked.

The Vietnamese beauty, who made it to the top five of the 67th Miss Universe pageant, was here in the country to attend some events in Bicol.

She arrived in Manila last Friday and was welcomed by her Bicolano pageant trainer Anjo Santos.

Nie also posted photos of her eating dried fish or “tuyo” which she described as her favorite meal. She said “tuyo” is called “Cá Khô” in her hometown.

“I can consume a whole bowl of rice with one of this fish,” she said.

Nie competed against Philippines' Catriona Gray last December in Bangkok, Thailand. She is a member of Vietnam’s Rade ethnic minority.

Nie is the global ambassador for Room To Read, a nonprofit organization that supports girls' education and literacy.
