New start for Julie Anne San Jose

MANILA, Philippines — Perhaps love would have to take a backseat this new year for Julie Anne San Jose after admitting that she is single again but not yet ready to mingle and find a new love. What she is deadset on doing is to fully pay attention to her career.

“I don’t think I’m ready for that (new love). I just want to focus on myself and my work,” said Julie Anne at the presscon of The Sweetheart and The Balladeer: Fun Night Only which she headlines with Christian Bautista, Donita Nose, Tekla, Josh Adornado and Golden Cañedo, on Jan. 27 at the Iloilo Convention Center, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. “I’m really, really focused when it comes to my work, my craft, bettering myself and my music. And that’s important for me this year.”

The Kapuso artist is optimistic about taking steps towards a brand-new start. “New beginnings, new work, new friends, new opportunities and blessings.”

No wonder, Julie Anne feels delighted to be doing a series of shows starting this month with Christian whom she has worked with in several concerts here and abroad, not to mention their GMA weekend TV program Studio 7. According to her, working with Christian is a breeze.

In the same presscon, Christian assured that The Sweetheart and The Balladeer is just one of the many shows that he and Julie Anne will be doing this year. Even the shows they did in the US will have a repeat in other parts of the country.

Christian said, “We’ve become really close during our tours that we take care of each other on stage; nagsasaluhan kami during times that we forgot some lines. We’re partners at na-develop (ang samahan) because of GMA.”

He added that a lot of girls these days admire Julie Anne and shared how the young audience are all eyes and ears on her every performance in Studio 7. “All the girls look at her. She’s really leading the pack. I believe I get that from her — that drive, that awesomeness and I’m glad we’re able to do these tours together.”
