MANILA, Philippines —  The return of Filipino iconic superhero “Darna” will be reportedly delayed after Kapamilya actor Enrique Gil revealed that his onscreen partner and rumored girlfriend Liza Soberano will undergo surgery for an injured finger.

In an interview with Pep.ph, Enrique admitted that Liza got injured in a stunt during their recently finished teleserye “Bagani.”

"Yes, she has to (undergo) a little surgery for her finger,” Enrique said.

Liza got injured by co-actor Justin Cuyugan at the taping of the ABS-CBN teleserye “Bagani” last August.

"Naaksidente siya sa stunt sa ‘Bagani’ pa ito, medyo matagal-tagal na. Kailangang operahan para maging mas mabuti siya sa mga stunts kasi di niya magalaw ang finger niya, kailangan talagang gawin. Saka inaayos pa yung script ng Darna," Enrique explained.

“Darna,” which recently changed its director from Erik Matti to Jerrold Tarog after Matti had some misunderstanding with Star Cinema, reportedly started its planning in 2015 but has still not pushed through.
LizQuen, composed of Liza and Enrique, will start doing a movie with Antoinette Jadaone under Black Sheep production.

"Narinig ko, parang next week, next, next week. One thing, mas mature kami dito, it's a more mature character. It's not a fairytale, mas totoo siya. Mas totoo lang siya, so mas maraming makaka-relate,” Enqique said of their new movie.

"It's our first time teaming up with Black Sheep. I'm excited. I wanna see on how we can do things that will come up,” he added.
