MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya singer Regine Velasquez said she was not expecting anymore to become a mother after she suffered miscarriage in 2010.

In an interview with Korina Sanchez on “Rated K,” the “Asia’s Songbird” recalled a period in her life when she was so down.

“Actually, hindi na nga namin ineexpect na we will be given one. Actually before him, I had a miscarriage. Noong time kasi na 'yon when I got pregnant, parang hindi ako ready, tapos noong nawala parang 'O my gosh.' I felt really bad,” she said of her miscarriage.

But she and husband Ogie Alcasid are very thankful to God after receiving their son Nathan.

“Soon after that, God gifted us this little boy. That's why his name is Nathaniel James. Nathaniel means gift of God,” she said.

Regine revealed that she suffered miscarriage during the late night talk show "Tonight with Arnold Clavio" in 2016. The singer also admitted that due to the miscarriage, she suffered depression for a while.

Following her controversial transfer from GMA to ABS-CBN, the singer has recently announced on Instagram that she is to become a part of new Kapamilya reality TV series, “Idol Philippines.”
