Miss Grand International winner faints, Philippines fails to advance
MYANMAR — Philippine representative Eva Patalinjug failed to advance in the top 20 of the Miss Grand International 2018 competition held on October 25 in Yangon, Myanmar.
The Cebuana beauty also did not win in the Miss Popular Vote category in which she was part of the top 10.
Paraguay's Clara Sosa, who fainted after the announcement, won the crown, followed by India's Meenakshi Chaudhary and Indonesia’s Nadia Purwoko.
Beauty queens from Puerto Rico and Japan completed the top 5.
The Philippines has never won a Miss Grand International title.
In the preliminary round, Eva showed grace under pressure after she slipped but recovered.
A registered nurse and an aspiring lawyer who dreams of becoming a Philippine president, Eva has been recently named as Philippine peace ambassador by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.
