MANILA, Philippines — After being with GMA for almost 20 years, “Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez has returned to ABS-CBN on October 17, as accurately predicted by The STAR.

The singer-actress had a grand red carpet entrance as she walked toward her contract signing with ABS-CBN executives.

“This is it!” she exclaimed during the signing, said ABS-CBN reporter MJ Felipe.

“I’m now a certified Kapamilya! Woooh!” Regine shouted after the signing.

She told reporters after the signing that she is excited to explore projects like movies and to work with her husband, Ogie Alcasid, as well as with fellow singers Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano, and Martin Nievera.

She also looks forward to working with Daniel Padilla. “Hindi ko kasi siya napapanood na kumakanta, pero nung napanood ko iba yung dating niya with his long legs,” Felipe quoted Regine as saying.

Recently, GMA Network Senior Vice President and Entertainment Group Head Lilybeth Rasonable released an official statement on Regine’s decision to leave the Kapuso network.

“After two decades, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has officially said her goodbyes to the Kapuso Network. We understand her decision to join her husband and we wish her well as she pursues other opportunities outside GMA Network," the GMA executive said.

It is not clear yet what Regine’s first project as a Kapamilya will be, but reliable sources from the network told that the Songbird will become a coach for ABS-CBN’s hit reality singing contest, “The Voice PH,” where her friend, Sharon, is also a judge.

It is still uncertain whether Regine will replace Lea Salonga as “The Voice PH” judge since Lea told reporters in a recent press conference for her 40th anniversary concert that she is now fully booked for the first half of 2019, and returning for another season of “The Voice PH” is not yet on her schedule.
