MANILA, Philippines — A video showing Kapamilya actress Rufa Mae Quinto’s acceptance speech following her acceptance of an award for sitcom “Home Sweetie Home” has gone viral, with almost 1.3 million views, 20,000 shares, and 53,000 comments as of posting.

The comedian delivered the speech on behalf of the sitcom, which has been awarded as Best Comedy Show at the ALTA Media Icon Awards in University of Perpetual Help.

In a recent interview with the media, including Philstar.com, during the launch of this year’s Cinema One Originals, Rufa Mae admitted that she and husband Trevor Magallanes are planning to have their second child.

“Gusto na nga naming sundan e. Kasi nga kailangan ng lalake pang isa. Pero hindi ngayon, mga next, next year pa. Anytime, we’re trying. Gusto niya lalaki. Ako nga okay na ‘ko kahit isa na lang e. Nakakapagod magbuntis e. Gusto ko pa rin naman ng isa kaso walang pressure,” she said.

The comedienne shared that she and her husband are now having a long distance relationship as she is working in the Philippines while her husband works in the US.

“Hindi kami nag-aaway. Long distance naman kasi kami. Kasi nga nag-OFW ako sa sarili kong bansa. Kasi nga taga-America na kami e. Nandito lang ako to work,” she bared.

She admitted that she is having a second thought on continuing her showbiz career in the country because her husband wants her to settle in the US.

“Sabi naman niya dun na daw kami kasi may pera naman na. Ibig sabihin, may sweldo naman siya, meron kaming ipon. So ngayon iniisip ko, tumanggap na ako ng mga offers so sa ngayon mag-work na muna ko,” she said.

“Monthly, yung asawa ko umuuwi, magastos. E ngayon hindi na siya pwedeng bumalik ng Philippines dahil may trabaho siya don. Hindi na pwedeng basta-basta umalis,” she added.

Rufa Mae’s film “Bagyong Bheverlynn” has been included in Cinema One Originals 2018. The film is directed by Charliebebs Gohetia with EA de Guzman, Juan Miguel Severo and Barbie Capacio as cast.

She plays the lead character Bheverlynn, a broken-hearted woman who hears that a super typhoon with the same name is fast approaching. She realizes that it’s a typhoon made of her own feelings and the only way to stop it from wreaking havoc in the country is to find happiness.

“Ako lang ‘yung romance-comedy dito. Kaya Bagyong Bheverlynn, kapag malungkot ako nagiging bagyo, pag masaya ko, tumitigil. Kaya nasa akin para tumigil ang ulan. Hugot din pero ginawang katatawanan. Tatak Rufa Mae pa rin,” she said.

Other entries in the festival include Keith Deligero’s "A Short History of a Few Bad Things," Raynier Brizuela’s "Asuang," Joseph Abello’s "Double Twisting Double Back," Whammy Alcazaren’s "Never Tear Us Apart," Bobby Bonifacio’s "Hospicio," Rod Singh’s "Mamu: And a Mother Too," Carl Papa’s "Paglisan" and John Lapus’ “Pang-MMK.”

Cinema One Originals is under the festival partnership program of the Film Development Council Of The Philippines (FDCP). Catch all the films starting Friday (October 12) until October 21 (Sunday) in TriNoma, Glorietta, Gateway, Santolan Town Plaza, Powerplant; in Cinelokal theaters—SM North Edsa, SM Megamall, SM Manila, and SM Sta.
