WATCH: Piolo Pascual on Robin Padilla joining politics

Jan Milo Severo - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Piolo Pascual does not think fellow Kapamilya actor Robin Padilla will run in the upcoming midterm elections, but he said he will support him once he decided to run.

Speaking before the media in a Mega Sardines event where he is the endorser, Piolo said politics is not Robin’s calling.

“Kuya Binoy? I don’t think Kuya wants to run. He’s been offered but…  I don’t think he’s gonna run. If he runs, I’ll support him, but it’s not his calling e. He can do better in his chosen field so why run?” Piolo said.

As of September 1 to 7, Pulse Asia’s survey showed Robin taking the 11th to 17th spot of the senatorial poll.

Piolo admitted that he also received offers to run for politics, but showbiz is a better platform for him.

“I got some offers but I’ve always been honest about my stand on politics and I have a better platform in showbiz. Hindi ko na kailangan ‘yon. I think I was cut out to be a celebrity, not a politician, and that’s very clear in my head,” he said.

Piolo and Robin are the producers of the upcoming movie “Children of the Lake,” a Marawi-based story tackling the events that happened in the infamous Marawi siege.

Piolo said the shoot was delayed due to improvised explosion device discovered in the ground zero where they are filming.

“We were not allowed to shoot because there is an IED discovered, so safety-wise, we were advised by the AFP not to shoot, so we have to wait. In October, we will be shooting,” he said.

The actor said the movie is a call for action and help so people will know what really happened on that tragic event.

“We will be able to tell the stories of different people who have experienced the war and they are still struggling with their lives. So it’s a call for action, call to help. So people at least know what happened and what we can do to help them as well. It’s a wakeup call for us,” he explained. — Videos by Kat Leandicho
