Dingdong Dantes denies plan to run for senator
MANILA, Philippines — After Kapuso actress Marian Rivera confirmed that her husband is running for a seat in the upcoming 2019 elections, and the Liberal Party has put him in its list of possible senatorial candidates, actor Dingdong Dantes said that he is not running for senator.
In a question and answer segment of Kapamilya host Ogie Diaz on his Facebook page, a netizen asked the veteran host if he is in favor of Dingdong running for a seat in senate.
“Si Dingdong Dantes, tatakbong senador, okay ba sa'yo, Mama Ogs?” a netizen asked.
“Oo naman. Sobra. Mas disente kesa sa Pepedederalismo,” Ogie replied.
In the comments section, Ogie tagged Dingdong in his comment that said: "Will support Jose Sixto Gonzalez Dantes III for senator!”
The Kapuso actor thanked the Kapamilya host but denied that he is running for senator.
"Salamat sa tiwala, Ogie. Pero hindi po ako tatakbong Senador,” Dingdong commented.
Recently, Marian confirmed that her husband will run at the upcoming 2019 elections.
"Hindi ko alam kung anong position, pero definitely, yes, tatakbo siya," she revealed.
Liberal Party has also put Dingdong’s name in its possible roster for the midterm elections.
Apart from Dingdong, showbiz personalities being eyed by LP include Agot Isidro, Leah Navarro, and Jim Paredes.
