MANILA, Philippines — “It wasn’t an easy climb to be where I am today,” confessed actress and TV host Anne Curtis during her recent launch in Makati City as a haircare brand’s endorser.

“I was criticized, typecasted, called ‘sintonado’.”

Though she was bashed for her singing, Anne said she does not care about what people say.

“I’m happy bringing happiness to other people, so nag-concert ako sa Araneta Coliseum!” she enthused.

In an interview with Philstar.com, Anne said that she is retiring from concerts, but not from singing.

When asked why she is leaving the concert scene, the “It’s Showtime” host explained: “Parang feeling ko okay na ‘yon, but that doesn’t mean na I’ll stop singing. Ginawa ko lang talaga siya as like a grand celebration of 21 years (in showbiz) tapos okay na ‘yon.”

When Philstar.com asked Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Anne’s sister, about her sister’s singing, she said: “Magaling ‘yan! Haha! That’s hers to own!”

According to her, it has always been her ate’s dream to sing since they were young.

After the success of her film “Buy Bust,” Anne said she will not chase her Hollywood dreams even though she already starred in the Hollywood movie “Blood Ransom.” After speaking with agents, she learned she had to move to the United States to pursue a Hollywood career.

“I don’t know if I can leave what I have here,” said Anne, whose next big project is starring in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Aurora.”

If there is one thing that she learned in her 21 years in showbiz, it would be: “Just always have faith in yourself. Be strong and pursue your biggest dreams because only you can make them happen!" — Video by EC Toledo IV
