The Hows of KathNiel

There’s no more hiding it: Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla have admitted that they have been going steady for five years now, just as everybody has been suspecting all the while.

In Star Cinema’s The Hows Of Us (still showing in several theaters nationwide), said to be their “baptism” as mature actors, the sweethearts kiss not just once, not just twice nor thrice but several times, cheered on by their fans. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina (who also megged the tandem’s 2014 starrer She’s Dating The Gangster), the movie has kept the box office ringing on its way to becoming one of the year’s biggest blockbusters.

“I love my role as Primo,” said Daniel. “It’s my first time to play a musically-inclined character. Primo is passionate in everything he does, just like me.”

The story revolves around Primo and his “ex,” George (Kathryn). After a bad breakup, they cross paths at the same house they have both invested in. George wants to stay in the house and Primo wants to move in, and they fight for their respective rights to the property.

Asked who the pegs are if and when they star in a sex(ier) movie, Daniel said, “Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”

How do they see themselves five years from now?

Daniel: Five years? I will be 28 by then. Two more years and I will be 30. Five years from now, I think we will still be doing the same thing, pero siempre with a different attitude naman, di ba? I mean, not in a negative way ha? Siempre kailangan better. I think mas enjoy and mas chill na alam mo ‘yon. Di na parang naghahabol sa lahat. Mas enjoying life, enjoying work, enjoying each other’s company.

Kathryn: Same answer. That’s the goal.For a change, since Kathryn and Daniel have matured, Conversations discards the usual “innocent” questions and engages them in, why not, a “sexy talk.”

What is sexy to you?

Daniel: Someone who can carry herself. Alam mo ‘yun? And she doesn’t have to pretend.

Kathryn: What is sexy for me? Sexy, hindi kailangan maganda ang katawan pero kaya magdala ng magandang damit. Kasi di lahat kayang magdala.

Daniel: Hindi, kahit di maganda yung damit, napapaganda mo.

When do you feel sexy?

Kathryn: Puedeng no more description na lang? Kapag naka-white shirt yung lalaki, may something.

Daniel: Nasanay ka lang sa akin. Not all guys in white ay parang ako. Many of them maybe just come from school. Oh, when do I feel sexy? When I don’t eat the whole day.

Kathryn: Sabagay. Or when you just wake up. That’s when I think you are sexy.

Daniel: Especially after I play basketball and I haven’t eaten yet. Tapos, pawisan ako. Iba talaga dating kapag tinitingnan ko sarili ko sa salamin.

What part of your body do you consider sexiest?

Daniel (laughs): Katawan ko? Siguro, my hair.

Kathryn: Oh, so sexy hair. Ako, maybe my back and my skin tone.

What another person’s body do you find sexy?

Daniel: The teeth.

Kathryn: The eyes.

Sexiest book?

Daniel: Fifty Shades of Grey.

Kathryn: The Notebook.

Daniel: The bass guitar.

Daniel: Shawarma Shack. Chicken.

Daniel: 1969 Eleanor Mustang. ‘Yun ‘yung pinaka-sexy sa akin na kotse.

Kathryn: Ako, GT-R. Sexy ‘yun, ah.

Sexiest perfume or scent?

Kathryn: Pag sa babae, citrusy. Pag sa lalake,’ yung parang clean scent lang.

Daniel: Ako, basta wag lang ‘yung masyadong matapang. ‘Yung masyadong masangsang kapag ano,’ yung sakto lang. Tamang cute ka lang ‘pag naamoy ka.

Kathryn: Ano ‘yung tamang cute? ‘Yung parang matamis? Juicy?

Sexiest time of the day?

Daniel: Before 5:30 p.m., ‘yung pagabi na.

Kathryn: Sunset? Sunset na lang.

Sexiest face of a man/woman?

Kathryn: Sa lalaki, Ryan Gosling. Sa babae, Dakota Johnson (of Fifty Shades of Grey). May something sa face niya na ang sexy. Ayy, Shane Michele din pala.

Daniel: Sa babae, Amanda Seyfried. Sa lalaki, Brad Pitt.

Kathryn: Papa P, Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling.
