WATCH: Jake Zyrus stars in Japanese thriller with K-pop star

JAPAN — Kapamilya singer Jake Zyrus, formerly known as Charice Pempengco, reportedly stars in the Japanese film “Yaru Onna (She’s The Killer).” 

Jake reportedly plays the role of Akira, the best friend of the lead star played by K-pop star and former KARA member Kang-Ji Young.

Apart from acting in the film, Jake also sang the movie’s soundtrack, “Out The Window.” 

The singer reportedly said in an interview that his voice in the movie is higher because they began filming before he changed to become a transgender man, which is why his former name, “Charice,” is the name used to introduce him in the trailer. 

The movie is an action film about a woman who seeks revenge for the killing of her parents, which she witnessed when she was young.  

Written and directed by Kiji Miyano, “Yaru Onna” premiered at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea last July and will be released in Japan on October 27. — Reports from Seph Asong
