MANILA, Philippines — Julia Montes, rumored girlfriend of Coco Martin, admitted that she and the “Ang Probinsyano” star share the same faith in Quiapo’s famous Black Nazarene.

Last January 9, millions trooped to the Black Nazarene’s annual Traslacion procession, and among the blackened Christ’s known devotees is Martin.

In an interview last Monday for her upcoming soap opera “Asintado,” Julia told Philstar.com that she, too, is a believer of the Nazareno.

“Yes, napagkwentuhan namin ‘yun before and meron din naman akong beliefs and naging Catholic din naman ako ngayon, so I do believe in that,” Julia explained.

She recalled that her devotion began even before she and Coco became an item.

“Nu’ng childhood ko, before nasa Pandacan kami, malapit kami sa Quiapo, dun kami nagsisimba ng lola ko bukod sa Baclaran.. So, meaningful s’ya sa’kin kasi lumaki akong lola’s girl tapos nagkataon, ‘yun ‘yung pinupuntahan naming church, so meaningful s’ya sa’kin every time may pupuntahan kami tapos dadaan ng church, talagang I make it a point na bababa ako at mag-pe-pray.”

Likewise, Julia is somewhat following Coco’s footsteps as an action star.

In “Asintado,” Julia plays Ana, a spunky and tough member of a rescue team who aspires to give her adoptive family a good life.

“Mas straightforward po s’ya and palaban. ‘Yung mga previous role ko, palaban din po sila, pero ito mas iba ‘yung journey n’ya that’s why iba rin ‘yung pinaglalaban. So, bagay na bagay ‘yung (title na) ‘Asintado’ kasi lahat kami may inaasinta,” the actress said.

Since Julia is already into firing guns, firing a weapon in “Asintado” is no longer a problem for her. She shared that through the soap, she can finally showcase her skills in military martial arts Krav Maga.

In the upcoming Valentine’s, Julia said that she and Coco still have no plans yet. She disclosed, however, that Coco spends time with her and her family every weekend.

“'Pag Saturday at Sunday, parati kami magkasama. So, kapag special occasions, napa-plano namin ‘yan ng weekends,” she elaborated.

Even during weekdays or when Coco has a taping for “Ang Probinsyano,” Julia assured that she and Coco are always in touch.

“Continuous pa rin naman ang communication kahit na busy s’ya,” she added
