A Kapamilya Starry, Starry Christmas Special

KAPAMILYA DAY - Kane Errol Choa - The Philippine Star

ABS-CBN’s brightest and biggest stars spread messages of love enacted in powerful song and dance performances at the Just Love: The ABS-CBN Christmas Special.

Opening the annual Christmas special was a spectacular Christmas medley featuring ABS-CBN’s world-class singers. Songs about love, peace, and kindness were also featured during the program when Jona, Kyla, Morissette, Jake Zyrus, Nyoy Volante, Erik Santos, Angeline Quinto, Klarisse de Guzman, and Yeng Constantino took the stage.

ABS-CBN’s roster of dashing leading men led by Piolo Pascual, Daniel Padilla, and Jericho Rosales made the crowd go wild with their Air Supply medley, while Kapamilya leading women including Kathryn Bernardo, Liza Soberano, Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, Nadine Lustre, and Yassi Pressman, among others, turned up the heat inside the Big Dome with their explosive production numbers.

KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla), JaDine (James Reid and Nadine Lustre), LizQuen (Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil), JoshLia (Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto), MayWard (Maymay and Edward) and other Kapamilya love teams also made the crowd cheer wildly and feel the ‘kilig’ vibes when they conquered the stage.

The Big Dome was even filled with an air of Christmas joy when the cast of MMFF entries Ang Panday and Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad owned the spotlight to entertain the crowd.

In the spirit of the holiday season, ASAP artists belted out ‘hugot’ Christmas songs, while other Kapamilya singers serenaded the audience with popular Christmas carols and Filipino Christmas songs.

Also in full force during the Christmas Special was the It’s Showtime family who won the hearts of the crowd with their ‘90s-inspired song and dance number. Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Billy Crawford, Karylle, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, and Ryan Bang sung big ‘90s hits from Britney Spears, The Spice Girls, The Backstreet Boys, and Celine Dion, among others.

Adding a dose of fun during the event were top Kapamilya comedians together with Magandang Buhay momshies Karla, Melai, and Jolina who cracked jokes and showcased their singing chops.  The comic showdown ended with Anne delivering a surprise opera twist.

Meanwhile, veteran OPM artists Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Rey Valera, Rico J. Puno, Tirso Cruz III, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sharon Cuneta, Ogie Alcasid, and Jaya together with Piolo Pascual, Jed Madela, and Toni Gonzaga sung heartfelt songs that they dedicated to Filipino children who faced trials this year.

Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo also pumped up the crowd’s energy with her jaw-dropping performance with young heartthrobs Darren Espanto, Iñigo Pascual, and James Reid as they sung the best songs of Bruno Mars.

Finally, the night ended with a bang as Kapamilya stars joined forces to sing the TV network’s Christmas Station ID song, Just Love and It’s Christmas All Over the World.

For this year, the ABS-CBN Christmas Special conveyed the powerful message that indeed, “no greater gift is there than love.”

“It is when we love that we learn to appreciate our blessings and it is when we love that we see the goodness in others. Kaya ngayong Paskong ito, punuin natin ng pag-ibig ang daigdig,” ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak said in his Christmas message.

Don’t miss part two of Just Love Christmas Special on ABS-CBN tonight.
