Marian on laughing more with less lines

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Laughter is the best medicine, or so they say. Laugh and the world laughs with you. But excessive laughing can also cause laugh lines (that’s why they are so called), or so the experts also say.

But according to Marian Rivera, one of the few showbiz denizens who laugh a lot, she’s undergoing treatments at The Belo Medical Group (BMG) that can, well make you laugh more without worrying about growing laugh lines.

Mother of one (daughter Zia is turning two years old on Nov. 23) and the happy/proud wife of Dingdong Dantes, Marian makes looking good effortless because her heart is in the right place. She knows her priorities pretty well — her family first, and her showbiz career, second. To maintain her beauty and physical well-being that is much needed in the industry, Marian definitely knows who to partner with.

Dr. Vicki Belo, her personal friend and doctor, has always been beside Marian to make sure that she doesn’t worry about the changes in her body, specifically her face. Marian encourages women, especially moms who are in their early 30s, to start anti-aging programs to help them slow down the signs of aging. Marian is an advocate of Thermage, a revolutionary treatment that harnesses the power of RF technology. The result is a smoother, tighter skin on the face that reduces the fine lines and wrinkles. It also induces collagen production, so day after day, the skin will look firmer and more beautiful with results that may last for up to two years.

“That’s why,” said Marian, “I can laugh more with less lines.”

They say that laughter is the best medicine but too much laughing can cause daw “laugh lines.” Agree ka ba d’un?

“I can’t say that I totally agree but I think laughing is not the cause of laugh lines. But yes, I agree that, sabi nga nila, laughter is the best medicine.”

What makes you laugh (comedy films, etc.) and when was the last time you laughed so hard?

“Many things make me laugh and comedy films are among them. Nakakapagpatawa rin sa akin, especially ‘yung anak ko kasi medyo maganda ang sense of humor niya and especially si Dong kapag nagpapatawa siya, when he is cracking jokes.” (Wink)

When did you notice signs of “laugh lines” on your face and what was your reaction?

“I think the first time I noticed laugh lines on my face was after I gave birth to Zia. Blame it on changes in your body when you get pregnant and after you give birth since your sleeping time becomes irregular, especially if you are a hands-on mom and you are breastfeeding. Lack of sleep can slow down the repair of your skin.”

What treatment ba ang ginawa sa’yo ni Dr. Vicki Belo?

“Lots of treatments as recommended by Dr. Vicki. What I like most is this new campaign that I’m promoting. It’s the first time I am trying the treatment. I feel that after only one week, medyo nag-lift ‘yung skin ng face ko. Tapos parang ‘yung mga sag medyo mas nawala. Many people say na parang mas lumiit ‘yung face ko. I do it only once a year so it doesn’t conflict with my schedule. I also like the Revlite treatment kasi medyo balbon ako, and also the Powerpeel.”

What facial exercises do you do?

“Pagtawa lang! Hahaha!!! I’m okay with it. It doesn’t feel like an exercise because I’m fond of laughing. Bungisngisera talaga ako. Hahaha!!!”

Any moisturizing routine at bedtime?

“Yes, of course! As soon as I get home from work, I make sure that before I go to sleep, I remove my makeup and clean my face. I moisturize. And I never fail to apply eye cream kasi nga palaging puyat, eh.”

Relaxing is also good not only for other parts of the body but also for the face. With your tight schedule, how do you relax?

“Oh my god, ang hirap! Especially now that I have a soap (Super Ma’am) at nanay ako, and there are so many other activities. Looking forward ako every Sunday kasi after Sunday Pinasaya, I have some time to go to the Belo Clinic for treatments na favorite ko! Pamper time ko. Hahaha!!!”

How is your “laugh time” with Dingdong and Zia?

“Ay, priceless! When I am with my mag-ama, hindi nawawala ang ngiti sa mga labi ko. So that’s it!”

Outlook in life?

“Always positive!”
