MANILA, Philippines — In time for the pilot airing of the Filipino version of "My Love from the Star" on GMA starring Jennylyn Mercado and Gil Cuerva, the Korean soap opera's original lead star, Kim Soo-hyun, visited Manila last week to launch a new Korean innovation and express gratitude to his Filipino fans.

Through an interpreter, Soo-hyun told his Filipino admirers, “I came here in the Philippines when I was still young and now I’ve got the opportunity to be here for this event. Everyone is welcoming. Thank you for your love and support!"

Soo-hyun was the special guest at the launch of Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation's QLED TV in Okada Manila.

Hosted by TV personality and radio jock Sam Oh, the event was attended by the company's executives, led by President Kevin Lee, media, and valued dealer-partners. Samsung Marketing Director Chad Sotelo introduced its local ambassadors for the QLED TV campaign, award-winning filmmaker Paul Soriano and taste-maker Tessa Prieto-Valdes.

“Paul and Tessa are industry leaders in their own realm. We believe that they are instrumental in showcasing the benefits of the QLED TV through their different fields and passion points,” said Sotelo.

The QLED TV boasts of an exclusive Quantum Dot technology, which turns light into color and revolutionizes picture quality. The TV’s HDR 1500 brightness and 100 percent color volume expression enables viewers to watch scenes just as how the creator intended them to be. It can also reproduce almost any color known to man, making HDR content more vibrant and natural-looking.

It also has an "Invisible Connection" cable that gets rid of unsightly and tangled cables. Users may avail of the no-gap wall mount, which allows the TV to sit flush against the wall. Another smart feature is the One Remote Control that covers all connected devices. Mobile phones can also be turned into a personal remote through the Smart View app. The TV is equipped with apps, services, and other content through the Smart Hub.

“Each year we challenge ourselves into coming up with upgrades and innovations, but this year’s QLED TV really is the pinnacle of high-quality viewing,” shared Samsung Product Marketing Head for Audio Visuals Jun Guevara.
