Some of our favorite celebrities in both the movies and the theater come from Repertory Philippines.

Repertory or Rep, the home of well-renowned actors where theater in the Philippines began to take shape, will celebrate its golden anniversary next year.
Rep has always been committed to producing the best plays you can see abroad right here in the country. And Rep has been doing just that for the past 50 years.
Rep wants to celebrate by welcoming all who have been part of its story to where it all started.

These Reppers include international Broadway sensation, Lea Salonga, her fellow Miss Saigon alumna, Monique Wilson as well as one of the best thespians this country has ever known, the late Junix Inocian.

Such big names in theater and entertainment also came from Rep, including Bituin Escalante, Cheri Gil, Pinky Amador, Michael de Mesa, Leo Martinez, Audie Gemora, Jaime Fabregas, Cris Villonco, Lorenz Martinez, Carla Guevara Laforteza, Tonipet Gaba and Michael Williams. Celebrities Heart Evangelista, Jodi Sta. Maria and Giselle Tongi trained with Rep, as well as Sen. Rissa Hontiveros.

Theater stalwarts including awarded directors, production designers, producers and more who started with Rep as their training ground have gone on to spread what they have learned to the most prestigious stages around the world like in Broadway and the West End.

“These artists who have been part of Rep may have gone on to other companies, different countries and areas of performance, but at heart, they will always be a Repper,” says president and CEO Mindy Perez-Rubio. “And that Repper is whom we want to welcome home for our 50th anniversary.”

Mindy continues, “On our 50th year, let’s all ‘Come Home to Rep.’”

And to show how they evolve and stay relevant to the times, Rep proudly unveiled its brand-new logo, which carries the iconic elements of the previous one but reimagined with a more modern and sleeker design.

“Our new logo has our nickname on it. Rep is what most people fondly call Repertory Philippines. A catchy name, relatable and easy to remember, and a name we want more people to call us by,” Mindy shares. “This logo also represents the new members of our team joining our already brilliant roster of veterans; and our continuing search for new talent who will continue our legacy.”

The 2017 season is filled with a line-up of spectacular shows namely Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Agnes of God, In the Next Room or The Vibrator Play, Beauty and the Beast, and Hair. All the brightest stars of Rep are also set to commemorate its golden anniversary in a magnificent gala musical extravaganza at Solaire for one special night in June 2017.

But before entering the 50th year, Rep is closing the curtains on the successful 2016 season with its year-end musical production of A Little Princess directed by Dexter Santos (also the artistic director of Dulaang UP). The well-loved musical written by Brian Crawley with music by Andrew Lippa delights the young and young at heart until Dec. 18.

Mindy says, “2017 is the year that we connect to our heritage and go back to our roots — so to speak. So, wherever you are and wherever you may be, you can always come home to Rep.”
