Junior New System off to teach underprivileged kids in Hong Kong

Ruel Mendoza - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — The Filipino dance group Junior New System was tapped to reach out to children from unprivileged areas of Hong Kong.

The group was tapped contacted by Sovereign Art Foundation, the organization who organized the “Make It Better” charity program.

The event aims to inspire children to see art as a way of self expression. The group hopes that through dance, the children will gain confidence and respect each other’s differences.

The group will lead the dance workshop of fifteen children, who will later perform at the graduation ceremony of the “Make It Better” art workshop.

Since the members of Junior New System also came from underprivileged communities, they can serve as an inspiration to the children from Hong Kong.

The group was recognized by the National Commission for Culture and Arts, and has participated in the first ever “Asia’s Got Talent” where they were made the cut for the finals.

Junior New System will have a workshop on June 1 at the Ovolo Southside Hotel in Hong Kong. — Joyce Jimenez
