Joshua Garcia: There’s life after PBB

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Joshua Garcia is taking his showbiz career on a solo flight after being paired with Loisa Andalio in the Kapamilya drama Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita. It was Joshua and Loisa’s project after their stint in Pinoy Big Brother (PBB): All In.

“It’s OK, relax, relax lang,” said Joshua. “I’m just taking my time. I’m doing guestings. My most recent assignment was an episode in   Ipaglaban Mo.”

“It’s fine with me because it’s work (and it’s part of it),” he replied when asked about the love team of Loisa and fellow PBB alumnus Yves Flores in Be My Lady. “It depends on the management. They might pair us in another show. I also miss her (and being in a love team) because (Loisa and I) have worked in the past,” he shared. “We rarely see each other because she is busy and I’m also busy.” Joshua also added that Loisa told him that she landed a role in the noontime drama, starring Erich Gonzales and Daniel Matsunaga.

As for the latest development in his and Loisa’s careers, Joshua had this to say: “I expected it that (one of us would be paired with another talent). It will happen. And I wasn’t surprised.”

Whatever Lady Luck has in store for Joshua in the future, he seems willing to wait for it.

“Star Magic handles my career. They know (what’s best for me) if I will do this or I will do that. I just trust them,” he said. “Now, I no longer (fit) the teenager (mold) like Jerome Ponce (also star of Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita). Whatever the management gives me, I will accept.” It means Joshua is ready to take on young-adult roles. But he is not yet sold on the idea of going sexy like what Kapamilya stars Jake Cuenca, Ejay Falcon and Joseph Marco have done.

When TV assignments are few and far between, Joshua said he attends “workshops for acting. I’m really into acting than dancing or singing.”

“(Sam Dawson,) the character of Sean Penn in I Am Sam is my dream role,” he said. “When the viewers watch him, you know they will empathize with him. Sobrang maaawa sila. I like stories similar to the movie. I haven’t played a mentally-challenged character. And the challenging role I have done so far is portraying gay in MMK (Maalaala Mo Kaya).”

Aside from going to workshops, Joshua also gets endorsements and he is now the endorser of BNY, which is known for its innovative and youthful style, as shared in a press statement. BNY Jeans for teen females and BNY Unlimited for teen males are the product lines which have made a significant mark in the local casual fashion.

The information provided by BNY reveals that Joshua’s favorite actors are John Lloyd Cruz, Kaye Abad, Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep. As a young star, he tries to be true to his role. “Hindi ko po inaarte yung mga eksena. Para sa akin, totoo lahat ’yon.” Like any dreamer out there, the Star Magic talent said he wishes to finish his studies and to have made a name for himself in the entertainment industry.

On a personal note, Joshua said he and Loisa are still friends in spite of their busy schedule. He cannot level up their friendship yet because she is only 17. And when the right time comes, the tall, chinito actor hinted that he is willing to wait and might try his luck again.
