A story that captures the hearts of Pinoys

The story of Tin and Macoy, the main characters in the primetime drama series The Story of Us, is touching the hearts of many Filipinos, especially those who left their cherished one for their family needs and dreams. Featuring Kim Chiu as Tin and Xian Lim as Macoy, the soap aired its pilot episode last Feb. 29 and it is now into its sixth week.

Macoy is a young achiever who dreams of alleviating his family and community from poverty. Blessed with a high IQ, Macoy aims to be the president of the Philippines one day. Tin, a newcomer on the island, dreams of coming to the US to find her mom (Zsa Zsa Padilla), who left her and her dad (John Arcilla) when she was younger. She lives with her stepmother (Aiko Melendez) and younger brother with special needs.

Tin and Macoy are childhood best friends-turned lovers who grew up together in El Nido, Palawan. However, circumstances will drive them apart when Tin goes to the US to meet her estranged mother. Separated from one another, they are forced to make it on their own, driving them further apart until their relationship crumbles.

Macoy is starting to lose hope of ever being reunited with the love of his life after his application for a visa to the US got rejected.

The first week of The Story of Us recounts a touching story of friendship. It highlights the stupendous view of El Nido, Palawan and it also touches on deep social issues, such as poverty and child labor. Aside from the stunning scenery and camera work, keeping the series together are the heartfelt performances of the cast that includes Aiko Melendez, Susan Africa, Gardo Versoza and Zsa Zsa. Not to be outdone are Zaijian Jaranilla and Alyanna Angeles as the young Macoy and Tin, whose performances reveal a depth of emotion needed to illustrate the two main characters’ friendship and love. The series turned into an instant hit on social media not only for the story but also the area the show highlighted.
