2014 Miss World Rolene Strauss weds

MANILA, Philippines - 2014 Miss World Rolene Strauss married her fiancé D’Niel Strauss, founder of Orientis Venture Capital in the picturesque Lourensford wine estate in Somerset West in Western Cape, South Africa last Feb. 6. They share the same surname but are not related to each other. 

In her dream wedding dress by her friend, designer Casper Bosman, she was given away by her father, Dr. Hennie Strauss, and mom Theresa, a nurse. “I might have found my Prince, but my dad will always be my King,” Rolene said. 

The guests included (right) 2011 Miss South Africa Melinda Bam (Top 10 semi-finalist in the 2012 Miss Universe pageant, currently national director of Miss South Africa pageant that sends delegates to the Miss World and Miss Universe contests), and 2013 Miss World Megan Young (who came with her boyfriend Kapuso actor Mikael Daez).    

Rolene was a Top 5 finalist when Melinda was crowned 2011 Miss South Africa. After three years, Rolene joined again in 2014 and won Miss World that same year. Rolene visited the country in February last year with Miss World Organization Chair Julia Morley. She and Megan led the inauguration rites of the new pediatric hematology-oncology ward at the Philippine General Hospital.
