Gab Valenciano getting 'threats' after anti-Duterte remarks

Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – Gab Valenciano has been receiving death threats after expressing he is not supporting presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, his brother Paolo Valenciano revealed on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Paolo posted a series of Tweets claiming that his brother has been getting “death threats because he doesn’t like Duterte.”

“Iba opinion niya so death threat agad agad” he asked.

He then clarified that he has “very good history with Davao,” but was bothered to see “some Davaoeños saying, ‘Sana ma-rape asawa mo'.”

Paolo also said that he likes Duterte, but asked some of his supporters to “show more respect.”

Gab earlier defended singer Kitchie Nadal bashers after she expressed her thoughts on Duterte admitting he's a "womanizer"  and has "killed 1,700" people.

In the deleted post by Nadal, she said that “we should keep in mind that men and women should uphold marital law as seriously as criminal law, because family is the very foundation of our society.”

On his Facebook page, Gab reposted a story about Nadal’s statement and expressed his own thoughts.

“Would you hire a murderer to look after your kids? Would you invite a thief to look after your home? In this case, would you, who was born and raised a Filipino with the values and morals set and taught to you by past generations, appoint a president who completely rejects the morals we Filipinos are known for? Family. Faith. Tact,” he said in his post.

“I'm sorry, but leadership does not justify compromise,” he added.

He noted that he respects Duterte’s “honesty and eagerness to lead our country back on track,” but pointed out that she cannot back the Davao mayor's sense of "morality.”

“No matter how great you are at what you do, your character is what will define you and what you leave behind when everything is said and done,” he said.

Wisdom. Pure wisdom. Respect for Kitchie has quintupled. Would you hire a murderer to look after your kids? Would you...

When asked on the comments section whom he thinks should be elected as president of the Philippines, Gab admitted that he’s “for no one. Sadly.”

“Please do not take my opinion out of context. I am speaking about morality and what a true Filipino should stand for,” he explained. “Yes, the others have so much garbage latched on to them as well, and I would never represent or endorse them in any way, but when any decent person boasts about dirty laundry, in this case a presidential candidate, that shouldn't be socially acceptable.”

In a recent post, Gab said that his earlier post were met by different reactions from netizens, with some going below the belt and even involved his personal life.

Yet he said he remains firm with his opinion about Duterte.

“I stood up and spoke out for what I believe in, and I will not apologize nor back down. So come at me with your garbage, and I will retaliate with my education,” he said.

Dear People. I woke up today with a barrage of messages over all my social media accounts, attacking not just my...
