The poet in Grace Poe revealed in Romy’s show

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Taking time out from her hectic political life nowadays, Sen.  Grace Poe guested in election lawyer Romy Macalintal’s radio program, The Law of the Heart is Love.

Grace visited DWBR at the fourth floor of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Visayas Ave., Quezon City last Aug. 4 and read two love poems written by James J. Metcalfe and a Tagalog poem, Pagibig, by the late Jose Corazon de Jesus.

Grace, who was practically mobbed by employees of PIA and DWBR, admitted that she enjoyed her experience of reading the poems which is a far cry from her activities as a legislator and one of the most sought-after presidential or vice presidential candidates for the May 2016 elections.

The interview made by Romy did not touch on politics but was centered on Grace’s personal life like the love letters she received from her husband Neil Llamanzares, their theme song and her love for art and literature. Romy likewise took the opportunity to present to Grace a draft bill to increase the current five-percent discount of senior citizens on water and electric bills.

Romy, an advocate for the rights of senior citizens, prepared the proposed bill and handed it over to Grace who promised to take immediate action on the proposed measure for the elderly.

After Grace read Pagibig, Romy told her that “there is somebody who wants to say hello to you, Madam Senator.” When Grace asked, “Sino siya?” Romy immediately played the song Kumusta Ka by her late father Fernando Poe Jr.

As Romy continued the interview with the song as background, Grace couldn’t hold back her tears as she recalled how FPJ would sing that song to her over the phone when she was in the US.

Grace’s episode in Romy’s program will be aired tonight at 8 with replay tomorrow night at 7 over DWBR, 104.3FM.
