Edu Manzano sets conditions before voting for Vilma

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - Will Edu Manzano support ex-wife Vilma Santos in case she decides to run for higher office in 2016?

Speaking to members of the press during the media launch of ABS-CBN's upcoming drama "Bridges of Love" on Tuesday, Edu said Vilma is "entitled to do anything she wants."

However, this doesn't mean he will automatically support Vilma in 2016.

"I would like to see kung ano magiging plataporma niya, kung sino magiging kasama. That's what I'm saying--ganun ka importante ang boto ko para sa akin," Edu said.

He added, "I'm not saying she doesn't deserve it, but latagan mo ako kung ano ang plataporma mo."

"Kung saka-sakaling maisipan niya, she better be ready," he also said.

Edu, who previously served as Vice Mayor of Makati and ran for Vice President during the 2010 elections, believes "these are very sensitive times, lalo na ngayong 2016."

The actor and TV host further said, "I think we should take our vote very seriously, kung itutuloy yung mga sabihin nating tagumpay nang administrasyon na ito or do we go back where were many, many years ago."

"So ako, I take my vote very, very seriously. And I hope the same will go for the electorate."

Edu returns to acting via the upcoming ABS-CBN drama "Bridges of Love."The show, which stars Maja Salvador, Paulo Avelino and Jericho Rosales, is his first TV acting project in over a decade.

Now that he's back to acting, is Edu open to working with Vilma and their son Luis Manzano?

"Actually, the problem there is the story, di ba? Mahirap maghanap ng storya for Vilma and I, also for Luis," he said. "But kami ni Luis, meron kaming mga konsepto para sa isang comedy movie."
