Jerome & Jane: Next love team?

LIVE FEED - Bibsy M. Carballo - The Philippine Star

After his participation in the long-running Be Careful With My Heart, Jerome Ponce felt it would be difficult to let go. We suppose that is what a teleserye does to you… you become so attached to one another that you begin to wish it would never end. After all, Be Careful ran for two years. Jerome knew life had to go on and that he would miss the company of Ser Chief (Richard Yap) and Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria) who played the lead characters, and co-star Janella Salvador who was his sister in the series.

So Jerome got busy with new challenges, which came quickly enough when he joined the cast of Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita where his co-star is Jane Oineza who is being linked to basketball star Jeron Teng. Jerome also shared what fans can expect from his character in TV series, which also stars Pinoy Big Brother housemates Joshua Garcia and Loisa Andalio. In a Push article, Jerome said he is uncertain as to what’s next for him. He confessed to getting the jitters not because he is a virtual newcomer for the project, but because he would want to show to the people that he has what it takes to deserve the role in Nasaan Ka.

At the same time, we sought to know more about Jane since there are signs that they could be promoted as the newest love team. Starting out as a child star in Goin’ Bulilit, Jane’s first appearances on TV began as a child model in over 20 TV commercials. She went into acting at age four in Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan and Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas plus many more TV appearances as a child.

After three years, she joined the live-action fantasy series Kung Fu Kids in 2008 and featured multiple guestings on the drama anthology series Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) and Wansapanataym. She did her first indie short in Sampalataya as Mayumi, a blind girl who dreams in colors but sees everything in black and white. Jane also participated in the period indie, Bayaning Pepe, directed by Carlos Morales, which went back into the younger years of the National Hero Jose Rizal.

Later that year, she was cast in Muling Buksan Ang Puso, and then played a psychopathic character urged to kill the main character’s sister in the action series Juan dela Cruz. Separately, she appeared in another MMK episode titled Bimpo wherein she played a young woman born with cerebral palsy. The portrayal gave Jane the Best Single Performance by an Actress at the 27th PMPC Star Awards for Television alongside the acclaimed Nora Aunor.

Nothing, however, will be able to beat the record of Jane’s acting performance in 2013 where she gained international recognition for her role in MMK’s Manika (or Doll) episode with a Finalist Certificate for Best Performance by an Actress at the prestigious New York Festivals and a nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Single Drama at the Golden Screen Awards. Jane and the entire cast also earned a Best Drama nomination at the International Emmy Awards. Said to be her first-starring role on TV, Jane plays Nene, a girl raped by her stepfather, with her mother watching. Doll broke barriers as one of the most-talked-about episodes of the MMK series, reaching a 40-percent national viewer rating via Kantar Media/TNS.
