Lady doctor part of Grammys, Oscar

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda - The Philippine Star

The annual awards season in Hollywood, particularly the Grammy awards for music and the Oscar awards for film, is always eagerly anticipated by stars and fans alike.

This year, at both the Grammys and Oscars, there will be something else for Pinoys to rave about. Dr. Jane Cases (photo), a US-based medical doctor (she is a board-certified endocrinologist and a diplomate in anti-aging and regenerative medicine) and owner of the Healing Saint line of products, will be present to consult with the stars and offer full metabolic and nutritional consultations days before the 57th annual Grammy Awards last Sunday, Feb. 8 and the 13th annual “Everyone wins at the Oscars!” gift bags when the Oscar Awards is aired on Feb. 22. She will also be including her products in the gift bags to be given out to the presenters, performers, producers and executives.

“My publicist was contacted by the director of a niche marketing company that specializes in celebrity product placement and who works closely with the Academy Awards. When they learned about my Healing Saint and Wellness 360 product lines, I was asked to participate by consulting with the stars and gifting my product lines in the gift bag and gift lounge at the Grammys as well as the gift bags for Oscar nominees. They asked me to be in the Grammys gift lounge to give the A-list celebrities (presenters, nominees, performers, executives and producers) a full metabolic and nutritional evaluation days prior to the Grammys,” says Dr. Cases on how she got invited to be part of the two prestigious events.

She started her Healing Saint line of products after suffering what she describes as a “horrific bike accident” nearly two years ago. “I lost a significant amount of skin on my face, and no plastic surgeon could fix it,” recalls Dr. Cases.

The accident left her with terrible scars on her face and arm. Unwilling to settle into the traditional approach to wound care which would have had less than desirable results, Dr. Cases was driven to learn even more about wound healing technology and to better understand its ability to enhance the body’s self-repair and self-renewal potentials. The result was a proprietary formula to better heal damaged skin.

The name Healing Saint is inspired by the healer and saint, Agnes, who grew her hair while maintaining faith during suffering. The Healing Saint is using science to achieve the same success.

A graduate of the UST College of Medicine, Dr. Cases has been based in the US since 1995. She flew to the US for her medical training in New York, went back to the Philippines in 2001 and started her endocrine practice at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City. She eventually left St. Luke’s and moved to Marietta, Ohio in 2005.

As a doctor, she is focused on bringing wellness back to those who suffer from hair loss and skin aging “by replacing what has been lost through aging, disease or medication, with natural growth factors free of endocrine-disrupting chemicals.” Dr. Cases’ background in the basic sciences and collaborations with biotech companies on regenerative medicine, self-repair and self-renewal led her to develop the Healing Saint products.

Her products enhance the ability of the skin and scalp to repair and renew itself. The Healing Saint Luminosity Skin Serum reduces the appearance of fine lines, fades age spots, minimizes uneven tone, reduces adult acne and increases luminosity while The Healing Saint Medicated Scalp Serum results in a revitalized scalp with thickened hair roots, reduced hair loss, and decreased premature breakage.

Dr. Cases is glad that there is now a growing interest in health and wellness worldwide. With the kind of stressful lifestyle that most people lead nowadays, it’s important to always keep health and wellness at the top of the priority list.

“It is a necessity and it is about growing awareness,” says Dr. Cases. “It is an offshoot of the more stressful lifestyle we have — stress, unhealthy food choices such as processed food, microwaved food, high carbs and simple sugars, exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals from so many sources, sedentary lifestyle and lack of sleep, among many others.”

It’s important to protect ourselves while we can, and sometimes it starts with a simple decision to embrace a healthier lifestyle and making smart choices.
