Jasmine: Comparison with sister Anne 'always there'

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- Jasmine Curtis-Smith believes that the comparison between her and sister Anne Curtis-Smith will always be there.

Jasmine is a talent of TV5 while her older sister Anne is under ABS-CBN.

“It will never go away,” Jasmine said in an interview Tuesday night, during the press conference of her upcoming show “Jasmine.” “It'll be forever embedded in both our careers kung sino ba ang mas magaling at sino ba ang mas maganda.

“But that's part of life. Kahit hindi ka naman part ng showbiz [may comparison].”

Now that they both have a primetime show, with Anne playing the role of “Dyesebel,” Jasmine knows that the comparison will be heightened. Yet, she chooses to ignore this and believe that they're both good at their craft.

“I think it's kind of still the same naman po na title role pa rin naman po siya,” the Kapatid talent replied when asked if she thinks she edged  her sister in this new project. “Kahit na po sabihin nating totoong pangalan ko ang Jasmine, character pa rin naman po siya na pino-portray ko po.

“So halos the same lang siya kapag sinabing Dyesebel. Ang pinagkaiba nga lang po, ito ang goal namin is malito ang tao sa ano 'yong katotohanan, ano 'yong fictional. So for me, it's a very, very amazing opportunity and sobrang saya ko po kasi pangalan ko pa mismo 'yong nagamit.”

Meanwhile, Jasmine is excited  to know viewers' feedback on her self-titled thriller-drama series, which she described as a show that blurs the line between reality and fiction.

She plays the role of Jasmine, an actress who is on her way to the top. But her success also means losing her privacy, and even getting her a stalker who's threatening the people who get too close to her or hurt her in any way.

Jasmine added that she is glad not to have a stalker just like the one in the show.

“Siguro ma-overwhelm ako,” Jasmine replied when asked how she'll feel if she find herself faced with  a real-life stalker. “Kasi...t's easy to stalk online na hindi naman nila nararamdaman na kailangan mo siyang gawin in person kasi nakukuha na nila lahat ng info online.

“Pero if it's dangerous na for my well being and the people around me, do'n siguro ako matatakot. But until then, it'll just be a form of flattery also. Kasi siyempre nilalantad namin buong buhay namin sa social media, hindi naman buo pero halos buhay namin nando'n na talaga.”

Joining Jasmine in this show are Vin Abrenica, Gerard Sison, Carlo Orosa, Alwyn Uytingco, Marvelous Alejo, Matthew Padilla, Justine Pena, Nicole Estrada, and Cai Cortez.

“Jasmine” is a collaboration project of TV5 and Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, and will be airing for nine Sundays starting June 1,  at 9:15P.M.
