Rosa Rosal: Cover Girl

REMEMBER WHEN? - Danny Dolor - The Philippine Star

The Oct. 15, 1955 issue of Saturday Mirror Magazine featured the beautiful face and curvaceous figure of Rosa Rosal on its cover.

‘How well do you know Rosa Rosal?’ the magazine asked.

In the ‘50s, Rosa was LVN’s contravida, very classy and a fine lady to boot.

In 1955, Rosa was named FAMAS Best Actress for Sonny Boy and in the following year, she was FAMAS International Prestige awardee for Anak Dalita, which won Best Picture at the Asian Film Festival.

Her other Prestige pictures for LVN were Badjao and Biyaya ng Lupa.

In the ‘80s, Rosa won Best TV Drama Actress for Balintataw and was honored with the Natatanging Gawad Urian for her lifetime achievements.

Rosa is a Magsaysay Awardee for public service, considered the Asian Nobel Prize. — RKC
