Hot on the charts

-

MANILA, Philippines - Last year, The Script made history when its single The Man Who Can’t Be Moved reached the top spot in the countdowns of Jam 88.3, Magic 89.9, RX 93.1 and 103.5 Max FM. Not bad for a band whose self-titled debut was launched August 2008. The Script has conquered the country with its brand of music — Celtic Soul, blending hip-hop lyrical flow with pop melody, state-of-the-art R&B production with anthemic rock dynamics, classic song construction with gritty contemporary narratives.

The Script is dominating the charts this year with its new hit Breakeven, which is going up the charts of radio stations and its video on music channels. The Script is composed of Danny O’Donaghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power whose music is often compared to U2. The first single We Cry also made its way to the countdowns.

The album also topped the UK charts beating the likes of Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon.

Other tracks in the album are Before the Worst, Talk You Down, Rusty Halo, The End Where I Begin, Fall for Anything, If You See Kay and I’m Yours.

“There is a whole lifetime in these songs,” says Mark. “We don’t write them in 10 minutes. A song takes nurturing, it is an evolving thing. This is a journey we are in constant change, constant motion. I can’t ever put my finger on what exactly The Script is, I don’t even think I should, all I know is that it is something that touches me deep inside, and seems to touch other people when we play.”

The Script’s self-titled debut album is out in CDs in leading record stores under Sony BMG Music Entertainment.
