Pinay in Top 24 of American Idol

Will another Fil-Am land in the finals of the American Idol (after Jasmine Trias made it to the Top 3 in 2004)? There’s hope.

Another Fil-Am, Ramiel Malubay (photo) from Florida, is among the top 24 competing in AI’s seventh season.

Ramiel belted out Aretha Franklin’s Natural Woman during the audition.

Judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson were visibly impressed, according to Alan Trambulo (the avid Vilma Santos fan working at a hotel in Manhattan) who relayed the good news to The STAR.

‘Welcome to Hollywood,’ Randy was quoted as telling Ramiel. American Idol is aired Tuesday and Wednesday nights on Q-11.    — RICKY LO
